'Art Cartography' an Exhibition by Kristjana S. Williams.

Last week saw the opening of Kristjana S. Williams latest art exhibition in London as part of London Design Festival.  Entitled, 'Art Cartography. An Explorative Reinterpretation of the Traditional Art of Maps', Everything Begins' artist, Kristjana S. Williams latest art exhibition is held at London's oldest seller of antiquarian maps, The Map House in the heart of Knightsbridge.

"For this exhibition Kristjana S. Williams brings incredible historical works of art back to life using her eye-catching signature style, by featuring new vibrant digital collages on historical maps of locations such as London and China as well as maps of the world. Alongside these intricate prints, the artist will also present her first ever three-dimensional hand cut paper collaged maps, and a series of her mesmerising designs superimposed on to globes of the world. These original works include rich deep borders which further illustrate the artist’s intricate practice, as well as a greater sense of narrative in her work" - Yareah Magazine.

Kristjana S Williams is an artist who's work spans the world of illustration, design and fashion. The work composes of strong graphic lines juxtaposed with intricate victorian engravings. Comprising of collages of material collected from victorian engravings, photographs and found objects. The art of Cartography has fascinated the artist since childhood, following the bold lines and antiquarian aesthetic with her signature flora and fauna.

About Kristjana S. Williams | Kristjana S. Williams is an Icelandic artist and a graduate of Central Saint Martin's in London.  She now resides in London.  Kristjana's art is beautifully bright and bold.  By layering and interweaving fragment of Victorian engravings with contemporary illustration and colouring, Kristjana S.
